Statue Narrative
I am Alexandru Vaida Voevod and I was born on 27 February 1872, in Bobâlna /boˈbal.na/, into a family that taught me to love the Romanian nation and to value justice. From a young age, I wished to be of service to others, so I studied medicine in Vienna and became a doctor, devoted to helping my community. However, I soon realized that the true healing of the Romanian people would come through freedom and unity.
I entered political life and fought for the rights of Romanians in Transylvania, speaking in the Parliament of Budapest, where I had the courage to demand the recognition of the Romanian nation. The most uplifting moment of my life was December 1, 1918, at Alba Iulia, when the Union of Transylvania with Romania was achieved — the dream of generations of Romanians.
After the Union, I served as Prime Minister of Romania and represented my country at the Paris Peace Conference, where I defended our national rights. As a publicist, I wrote articles and speeches promoting democracy, education, and national spirit.
Throughout my life, I fought for a united, just, and modern Romania. This was the greatest aspiration and fulfillment of my existence.
