Statue Narrative

Hi! My name is Andrés de Vandelvira and I was an architect a long time ago, in the 1500s. I was born in a small town called Alcaraz. My dad was also an architect, so I learnt a lot from him. Later, I moved to Jaén, in the south of Spain, where I did most of my work.

I lived during the Renaissance, a time when people started to build things in a new and beautiful way. I really liked using straight lines and making things look balanced and clean. People say I had a special style.

One of my best works is the Cathedral of Jaén. I also helped build cathedrals in Baeza and Úbeda. These places are now very famous, and tourists visit them from all over the world. It makes me happy that people still like what I made.

I died in 1575, but many of my buildings are still here. I feel proud because I helped change the way buildings looked in Spain. I hope people keep enjoying my work for many years.
